The Born Korea's Saemaul Sikdang chain is gaining traction in overseas markets including the United States, Thailand and Mongolia.
The Saemaul Sikdang location in Carrollton, Texas — which first opened in 2023 — has seen its average monthly sales rise roughly 70 percent over the past three years as of late September, The Born Korea said Wednesday. Growing consumer interest in Korean food has driven more customers to seek out authentic Korean-style barbecue restaurants in the area. The store posted about 38 percent sales growth last year compared with the year before.
In Thailand, 14 Saemaul Sikdang locations recorded average monthly sales of around 100 million won ($75,300) per store in 2025. In Mongolia, the brand opened two new stores in the first half of this year alone.
"Saemaul Sikdang has been establishing itself as an everyday K-BBQ brand for more than a decade, led by signature menu items such as charcoal bulgogi and seven-minute kimchi stew," a The Born Korea official said.
