The Jinam Social Welfare Foundation, the charitable arm of Maeil Dairies, announced Friday that it has donated 50 million won ($33,200) to Ronald McDonald House Charities Korea.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a global nonprofit operating children's welfare programs in 62 countries. It provides family-centered care spaces for children requiring long-term hospitalization or ongoing outpatient treatment, and their families. In September 2019, it opened its first house in Korea — Ronald McDonald House Yangsan — on the grounds of Yangsan Busan National University Hospital in South Gyeongsang Province.
Since 2023, the Jinam Social Welfare Foundation has consistently donated snacks — including dairy products, beverages, chocolate and jelly — to Ronald McDonald House Yangsan to support patients and their caregivers during their hospital stays. Last year, it also donated 50 million won toward the construction of a house in the Greater Seoul area.
"We will continue to stand by children fighting long-term illness and their families, so they can focus on treatment in as comfortable an environment as possible," a foundation official said.
The Jinam Social Welfare Foundation was established in 1993 in accordance with the wishes of the late Kim Bok-yong, founder of Maeil Dairies.
