Maeil Dairies' Jinam Social Welfare Foundation held a special family camp for vulnerable households.
The foundation partnered with Seoul's Jongno-gu district office to invite 11 Dream Start families — 27 people in total — to Sangha Agricultural Park in Gochang-gun, North Jeolla Province, on June 19. The park is an experiential rural theme park in Sangha-myeon that brings together nature and people.
Dream Start is a child welfare project run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It provides customized, integrated services — including health care, basic learning support, social development, parenting education and family support — to vulnerable children from birth (or from pregnancy) through age 12, along with their families.
The Jinam Social Welfare Foundation has been hosting the Dream Start Family Camp to give Jongno-gu residents whose guardians face financial hardship or work demands little opportunity for family travel. The event, first held in 2016, marked its sixth edition this year.
This year's camp ran overnight from June 19 to 20. Participating families took part in a jam-making workshop, animal interaction activities, outdoor swimming at Farmer's Village, a tour of the Maeil Dairies Sangha factory, and a parenting education session for guardians.
A foundation official said the camp was intended to "spark children's curiosity and serve as a solid stepping stone as they venture out into the wider world."
