Twosome Place launches fresh pineapple and melon cream cakes for summer

Dessert cafe chain Twosome Place said Monday it will launch two summer limited-edition cakes topped with fresh pineapple and fresh melon — dubbed "Pine-saeng" and "Melon-saeng." The new products are a summer extension of the chain's "Gwail-saeng" fresh cream cake line, which sold 3.5 million units last year.

Both cakes use Twosome Place's fresh cream recipe, developed to complement the acidity and sweetness of each fruit. Pine-saeng features fresh pineapple — a relatively uncommon ingredient in South Korea's dessert market — layered with coconut fresh cream and pineapple compote.

Melon-saeng places fresh melon atop a soft sponge, with melon custard cream and melon compote layered inside. It will be available as both a whole cake and by the slice.

"The Gwail-saeng line is our signature dessert platform that captures the flavors of each season through fresh fruit and our own cream recipe," a Twosome Place official said. "We hope Pine-saeng and Melon-saeng bring a cool, refreshing treat this summer."
