Yeon F&C, the food company behind hansik franchise brands Hanchon Seolleongtang and Yuksudan, has installed a manufacturing execution system (MES) at its Osong factory at a cost of about 770 million won ($558,000). The company said the investment aims to minimize quality gaps across stores and improve the consistency and stability of products made at its own facilities.

Food manufacturing involves multiple processes and carries a high risk of variability. Yeon F&C deployed the MES at the Osong factory to sharpen precision across its in-house production operations. The system links data across the entire production chain — from raw material intake through manufacturing processes, product and inventory management, and final shipment — enabling real-time monitoring and traceability.

Broth production management has been made more precise. The system now captures detailed data on actual ingredient inputs and yield losses at each stage of the broth-making process.

The MES also provides visibility into ongoing production progress. Production plans, work orders and per-process output figures are all integrated into the system, allowing managers to monitor and control operations in real time.

Alongside this, the system manages critical control points under the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety standard. The company has also built a production traceability framework and extended the system's scope to cover equipment operation and downtime data.

"This MES implementation establishes a data-driven production infrastructure that can consistently maintain taste and quality regardless of variations in raw ingredient conditions or process variables," a company official said.
