Pharmaceutical and biotech company Cellmed has launched a weight management product called Nextop Ultra Pack, which divides its ingredients by intended use before and after meals, the company said Thursday.
While conventional GLP-1 receptor agonist-based obesity treatments pharmacologically activate receptors, Nextop takes a different approach — drawing on natural nutrients and considering the body's own endogenous GLP-1 and GLP-2 secretion processes. The product is designed to support appetite control, satiety, gut health and energy metabolism together.
Nextop Ultra Pack consists of two components: Ultra Pack AC, taken before meals, and Ultra Pack PC, taken after meals.
Ultra Pack AC is made up of five tablet types. The A tablet combines three botanical ingredients — barberry fruit, skullcap and gardenia. The B tablet contains compounds derived from bitter melon, cinnamon and ginger. The C tablet follows a "green nutrition" concept, using ingredients from chlorophyll-rich vegetables, aloe, chili pepper and pagoda tree fruit. The D tablet incorporates galactose and Bifidobacterium to support gut health. The E tablet blends ingredients derived from green coffee bean, Japanese knotweed and turmeric.
Jang Bong-geun, Cellmed's chief executive, who was directly involved in developing the product, said the defining feature of Ultra Pack AC is its combination of diverse plant-based ingredients, each selected and matched to its specific characteristics and purpose, rather than relying on any single ingredient.
Ultra Pack PC, taken after meals, combines green tea extract powder, cockscomb extract powder, L-phenylalanine, L-tryptophan, St. John's wort extract powder, lemon juice powder and an aronia-alginate complex powder (AANCP).
Central to the formula is the green tea extract — specifically its catechin content — which the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has recognized as a functional ingredient for health functional foods. It offers triple functionality: antioxidant activity, body fat reduction and improvement of blood cholesterol levels.
"With Ultra Pack AC before meals, we considered a range of plant-based ingredients and gut health, and with Ultra Pack PC after meals, we addressed body fat, blood cholesterol and antioxidants — connecting the pre- and post-meal phases into a single weight management program," Jang said.
Nextop Ultra Pack excludes unnecessary additives and excipients such as synthetic flavors, colorants, corn starch, sweeteners and silicon dioxide. It is produced in a manufacturing environment certified under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's Good Manufacturing Practice standards and packaged in individual pouches.
