Ayoung FBC, a liquor distributor, is officially launching the casual wine brand Barefoot in South Korea on Tuesday.

The launch aims to break down the formality surrounding wine and broaden its appeal, lowering the barrier to entry so anyone can enjoy it in everyday settings without knowing grape varieties or vintages. The lineup also includes Tetra Pak wines, which need no opener and carry little risk of breakage, making them easy to carry and store. The varieties — Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon — reflect strong consumer preferences, and prices start in the 10,000-won (about $6) range.

The Barefoot Moscato (750ml) features tropical fruit and orange blossom aromas with a sweet, refreshing taste. The Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc (750ml) offers nectarine and lime flavors, pairing well with seafood or light snacks. The Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml) combines raspberry and blackberry jam flavors with a hint of vanilla, making it a natural match for meat dishes.

Barefoot is a popular American wine brand. Winemaker Davis Bynum first began production in his California garage in 1965. The name "Barefoot" reflects the brand's philosophy that wine is something anyone can jump into and enjoy with ease.

"Barefoot is a consumer-friendly brand that even wine beginners can enjoy," an Ayoung FBC official said. "We hope people will try it this summer at campsites or picnics through the Tetra Pak format, without any pressure."
