A new consumer trend dubbed "feelconomy" — in which mood drives purchasing decisions — is gaining traction. In response, the Hanwoo Board has proposed a lineup of "emotion-tailored hanwoo therapy menus" designed to match different emotional states.
On days when stress has piled up, the board recommends a spicy mala-style hanwoo bulgogi hot pot — a reinterpretation of Seoul-style bulgogi as a broth dish with mala seasoning. The hanwoo cuts used for bulgogi, particularly the chuck and round, are relatively low in fat and known for their clean, light flavor.
For days when both body and spirit feel worn out, the board suggests stir-fried hanwoo chadolbaegi with mushrooms, paired with a sweet-and-tangy garlic chive salad. Chadolbaegi — thinly sliced beef brisket — delivers a tender texture even with minimal cooking time.
For those looking to treat themselves to a special meal, the sirloin cut is the recommendation. It offers a well-balanced combination of marbling, tender texture and rich beefy aroma. The sirloin also works well as a steak served over creamy pasta.
"Because hanwoo offers a completely different dining experience depending on the cut and cooking method, you can choose a meal that suits your mood and condition on any given day," said Noh Go-eun, director of the Korea Food Service and Tourism Promotion Institute.
