Spain's diet food market is being shaped by three major trends: healthy weight management, high-protein and high-fiber products, and functional foods, KOTRA said.
Leading examples in the weight management segment include Spanish diet food brands Siken and BiManán. Siken sells meal replacement bars, shakes, snacks and dessert-style products, while BiManán — another well-established weight management brand in Spain — offers meal replacement shakes, bars, supplements and protein products. Both brands are driving demand through wide availability across supermarkets, pharmacies and online channels, as well as their combination of taste and convenience.
The second trend is the rise of high-protein and high-fiber foods. A standout example is Danone's YoPRO, a high-protein dairy brand the company markets as suited for post-workout recovery and muscle maintenance.
The third trend is functional foods. Products emphasizing specific health benefits — including probiotics, kefir, kombucha, vitamin-fortified dairy, collagen-infused items and protein desserts — are expanding across supermarket shelves and online retail channels. In the beverage segment, Komvida's kombucha is a leading example. The fermented tea-based drink is low in sugar, made with natural ingredients and rich in probiotics.
