Wine importer Kumyang International said Monday it will release a special limited-edition wine called "Fired Oak Barrel" to mark the 40th anniversary of Baron de Lestac. The product will launch exclusively at E-mart stores nationwide starting the first week of November.
The wine is a global limited edition that brings together Baron de Lestac's 40 years of winemaking and oak-aging technology. A specialized barrel-baking process is used to draw out and emphasize the flavors derived from oak.
The product employs a proprietary barrel-baking technique called "Brume Cuivrée" — meaning "copper mist" — in which oak barrels are heated with intense fire while a precisely controlled water mist is simultaneously sprayed, creating an environment that combines heat and moisture. The company says this method maximizes the expression of oak-derived flavors and tannins, adding greater complexity to the wine's aroma and taste.
Castel, the owner of Baron de Lestac, was founded in 1986 by Pierre Castel.
