Samyang marks 102nd anniversary with bread-baking charity drive

Samyang marked its 102nd founding anniversary Friday with a volunteer event held simultaneously at eight Korean Red Cross service centers under the theme "Temperature of Sharing, 102 Degrees."

About 200 employees, including the chairman, attended the event, according to Samyang. Participants baked four varieties of bread — among them two products from Samyang's frozen dough brand Prepang — to foster camaraderie across the group. Beyond what was made that day, the company plans to add bread made from Samyang's croffle dough and deliver a total of about 4,000 loaves to vulnerable communities by the end of October.

Before the baking session, Samyang ran a blood donation bus and a blood donation certificate campaign as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. The drive, conducted among employees from Sept. 4 through Friday, collected more than 550 blood donation certificates.

In his anniversary address, Samyang Holdings Chairman Kim Yun urged employees to lead the group's transformation and innovation. "Our 102 years of brilliant history do not guarantee our future," he said, calling on staff to keep in mind "the advancement of our global and specialty-focused business, management centered on stable cash flow, and AI-based AX transformation."
